Mr. SKELTON (for himself, Mr. LANTOS, and Mr. JONES of North Carolina) submitted the following concurrent resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Armed Services, and in addition to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned
CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
Disapproving of the decision of the President announced on January 10, 2007, to deploy more than 20,000 additional United States combat troops to Iraq.
Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That--
(1) Congress and the American people will continue to support and protect the members of the United States Armed Forces who are serving or who have served bravely and honorably in Iraq; and
(2) Congress disapproves of the decision of President George W. Bush announced on January 10, 2007, to deploy more than 20,000 additional United States combat troops to Iraq.

This is the phrasing I will use when corresponding with my Congressmen on funding issues. Support and PROTECT. We couldn't stop this resolution from passing, but we can make damn sure that every time military funding comes up for a vote that we throw this back in their faces. When they try and do the end run around our generals by telling them how and where they may deploy the troops we can remind them that they promised to support and protect them and by not allowing the generals to decide who can be deployed when, they are putting the troops already IN THE WARZONE at further risk.

If the Poison Control Center needed to make someone vomit, they could just read this irresolution. There are quite a few folks out here that are grateful for what the military is doing for us all. If you have contact with someone involved with the military [and if you don't - establish some], tell them the American people say "thanks", 'k?

Will do. My husband is currently serving in Iraq as part of the 'surge', and my son just enlisted in the Army and ships off to Bootcamp on 4/26.
