On Israel

Here's a roundup of some of the things I've been reading on Israel's War on Terror-

Good news from the Senate-
Bravo, the Senate

More 'disporportioned' coverage on civilian casualties-
Where's the Outrage?

And the Pope weighs in and sets the record straight-
Pope backs G8 stand on Lebanon

I'm sure I'll have updates a plenty on this one.

It was just good to learn more about what our government actually stands for. Thanks for that list in the first article. It was quite clear.

While I'm agreeing with the arguments about the double standard, it's been difficult to understand the context. Do you have any links to a history of the war (how this particular conflict started, the major events that have happened, goals, etc.)?

Um...where to start?

My first thought was, 'you've got a bible'. These are anchient conflicts for the most part. But that's not really what you meant, I know.

I don't know how biased the wiki article is, but it goes into much more detail-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Israel

Keep in mind, that in the modern history of Israel, whenever they have 'occupied' some other land, it was in response to being attacked. They captured territory in southern Lebanon, for example, as a buffer zone to keep the terrorist from entering/firing missiles into Israel.

In just about every situation here's how things went down-

Israel is attacked
Israel responds (not always militarily first, but always in the end)
Israel is condemned as teh aggressor

Israel gives up part of it's land to the 'Palistinians'
Palestinian terrorists step up the attacks
Israel responds
Israel is condemned

You see the pattern? It's bee this way my whole life (and more).

Not to say that Israel is perfect or innocent, but really, if the terrorist nations would leave them alone, they wouldn't have a problem. Look at Egypt and Jordan. They are co-esisting with Israel.

I'll have more on this later too.
