It sounds like the plot for a suspense thriller...
Healthy newborn babies are whisked away at the moment of birth, their mothers told that they were stillborn and the babies are then murdered to harvest their organs and stem cells.
Unfortunately, it's not the plot of the latest Michael Crichton book, or even the 'Movie of the Week'. It's happening right now, in the self-styled 'Stem Cell Capital of the World', the Ukraine.

But now there are claims that stem cells are also being harvested from live babies.
Keep in mind that whenever the article talks about stem cells they mean embryonic stem cells, which can also be cultivated from newborns.
This is just sick. Inevitable in a world that just wont let go of the idea that embryonic stem cells will be the 'miracle cure' of this century, but still utterly repulsive and just evil.
And no, I don't believe the line that says, "If only the US would allow more embryonic stem cell research, things like this wouldn't happen". It's ALREADY allowed in the US, just not funded by the federal government. Maybe, if we banned it altogether, then atrocities like this would stop. No, I don't believe that either. There will always be a market for it somewhere in the world, and so long as that's the case, sickos like those in the hospital will be killing babies to sell their stem cells.
What a sad testament on the world we live in.

You don't understand who the world thinks of how you treat babies as if they are new car with the leather seat. Many men need to explore things on the person who has done little to accomplish like the strong Aaron who is the writer and lover of many woman. It is selfish of you American to think that because it is a baby you somehow own it like the sheep skin rug on which you make love to your many wives.
Um....I don't think of babies as "new car with the leather seat". I think of them as HUMAN BEINGS with all the same rights that you and I enjoy.

Alrighty then, if it's a choice between MURDING infants and treating them as property, I'll choose the option that DOESN'T kill them. Fortunately, that's NOT the choice here, as most people don't think of their children as objects.

I saw this awhile ago, and found it deeply disturbing--I've just been thinking about how I wanted to write back.
I don't understand why, for these purposes, the Ukranian doctors can't use umbilical cord blood cells, or stem cells donated by consenting adults. Haven't you had articles before stating how adult cells are really better for research purposes anyway?
I don't understand the part about the miracle cure, either. In the last couple of hundred years we've made enormous progress in curing all kinds of diseases. For the complicated, shifting diseases such as cancer, we fund research and hope for an eventual cure. If stem cells advance that research, that's wonderful, but it doesn't make sense that the best types of stem cells would be overlooked (the hope for a cure idea--it's a genuine hope--but that would be independent from the politics of using stem cells from aborted children).
